Orion Pictures releases a first look Chucky image for the Child’s Play reboot. Based on the original horror film, the upcoming reboot will feature Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. In the previous franchise films, Brad Dourif voiced the famous movie villain. Created by Don Mancini, John Lafia, and Tom Holland, the Chucky character first appeared in the 1988 film Child’s Play. Catherine Hicks stars as Karen Barclay, who purchases a doll that just so happens to carry the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Dourif)....

China has abruptly terminated LTE access for the Apple Watch Series 3 without explanation. With all three major carriers in China state-owned, analysts say that the move was likely to have been prompted by government security concerns over the device … The WSJ reports that LTE functionality was available on China Unicom at launch, but new subscriptions were terminated just a few days later. Existing users are so far unaffected, it says....

Despite all the political pressures against China, the country still ousts Taiwan as Apple’s biggest source of suppliers. According to Nikkei Asia, “Washington’s attempt to untangle the U.S. and Chinese supply chains has had little impact on the world’s most valuable tech company.” As reported by the publication, even though Apple is diversifying its supply chain, the Chinese suppliers are the ones helping Apple to do that in other Asian countries....

A number of Chinese exhibitors will no longer attend CinemaCon 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus. The exhibition, set to take place between March 30th and April 2nd, is an annual event which occurs in Las Vegas. CinemaCon gives movie studios the chance to show off their latest and greatest projects to theater owners. The National Organization of Theater Owners (NATO) is responsible for putting it together each year....

Kurtwood Smith portrayed the family patriarch, Red Forman, on That ’70s Show but the character was almost played by Chuck Norris. Smith appeared in all eight seasons of the period sitcom and was revered as a fan-favorite for his stern behavior and catchphrases. Red’s portrayal, as well as the entire Forman family dynamic, could have been much different had the show’s creators got their first choice. CIRP is out today with a new report detailing smartphone loyalty among consumers. While Apple regularly touts “switchers” as an area of growth for the iPhone, the latest CIRP data claims that Android users are actually more loyal than iPhone users, at least over the last 12 months. CIRP says that its research shows Android has a 92 percent loyalty rate, compared to the 89 percent loyalty rate of iOS as of September of 2018....

Cities: Skylines is a city-building video game developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive. Cities: Skylines is a single-player open-ended city-building simulation. The game starts off as players engage in urban planning. Players engage in controlling, zoning, road placement, taxation, public services, and public transportation of an area. The initial release of the game dates back to 2015 for Windows, macOS, Linux, later emerging into Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch....

The report explains that while Comcast’s product will first be a set-top box itself, it’s possible it could “morph into an app” as well. Currently, Comcast offers customers its X1 platform, which includes access to streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube. X1, however, also integrates cable TV content. The new Comcast streaming TV box, which is said launch sometime next year, won’t integrate cable TV and is instead targeted towards Comcast’s broadband-only customers....

Just today we heard the latest episode in Apple’s troubled relationship with the Chinese government: it has been required to remove Skype from the local App Store following a request from the Ministry of Public Security. The stated reason was that the app ‘doesn’t comply with local law’ – which appears to be code for offering end-to-end encryption plus allowing users to open accounts without using their real name. This is just the latest clampdown by the Chinese government on its own citizens, and is far from the first time that Apple has been placed in the position of doing something which directly contravenes the company’s own values …...

CBS plans to bring its $5.99/month All Access subscription service, which offers a mix of on-demand TV shows and live streaming from local stations, to Apple TV and other platforms in the near future, a source with knowledge of the matter informed us. Word that Apple TV is still in the company’s sights for the All Access service comes as it officially announces support for Google’s Android TV platform today and ahead of an official launch of Apple’s revamped Apple TV platform arriving in October....

The split keyboard situation on iOS is so strange. As John Gruber rightfully calls out on Daring Fireball, the new iPad Pros simply don’t offer split keyboards. iOS limits the split keyboard to 7.9-inch, 9.7-inch, and 10.5-inch iPads. The old small iPad Pro had it; the new and pricier small iPad Pro does not. That means no split keyboard support on the arguably more portable 11-inch 2018 iPad Pro that’s thinner and lighter, and none of the three generations of 12....

Chipworks took apart the iPhone 5, just like last year, and it is looking at parts with an infrared camera. The chip analysts were able to lift suppliers’ names off both the front and back cameras. Also, just like last year, Sony makes the back 8-megapixel camera. The findings: OmniVision, a long time supplier of sensors for iOS devices, makes the iSightHD (1.9-megapixel) front camera: As noted by Chipworks, Apple’s ability to fit these sensors into an even thinner phone is likely due to the “thin touch screen with fewer layers, a thin battery, and the use of thin camera modules using the latest technology....
