The Dirt is a biographical film that tells the story of glam metal band Mötley Crüe’s rise to fame. Colson Baker, known professionally as the rapper Machine Gun Kelly, plays Tommy Lee, Mötley Crüe’s drummer. Douglas Booth, who starred in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending, plays Nikki Sixx, the band’s bassist. And Game of Thrones’ Iwan Rheon plays Mick Mars, Mötley Crüe’s guitarist. The Dirt was released on Netflix this March....

Comcast is reportedly planning to launch a new broadband streaming TV service that will include HBO and ESPN among other channels. Variety reports that the service will be priced at $15/month with tiers ranging to $40/month and launch in Q3 later this year. Comcast already offers a $15/month Xfinity add-on called Stream that it launched back in 2015. Comcast’s new product will be called Xfinity Instant TV and feature higher tiers....

How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders has found a potential new home at ABC in drama pilot Stumptown. The new series - based on the graphic novels of the same title and created by Jason Richman - calls for a strong female lead as it follows private eye Dex Parios. Smulders has been signed to play the starring role. After a successful nine-year run on How I Met Your Mother, Smulders’ fan base developed even further when she was cast as Maria Hill in The Avengers....

Comedy Central personality and long-time series contributor Jordan Klepper was arrested during a protest. The comedian became known as a segment correspondent on the The Daily Show in 2014, and stayed alongside Trevor Noah when he replaced Jon Stewart until 2017. Comedy Central then launched Klepper’s own late night talk and satirical news show, The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, which was co-created by Noah. Despite positive critical reception, the show was cancelled after one season....

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison has made it clear that he thinks The Bachelorette star Tyler Cameron is a good guy, but isn’t convinced he is necessarily right for being the next Bachelor. Chris thinks Tyler being spotted with former Bachelorette star Hannah Brown and supermodel Gigi Hadid all in one week might not bode well with his chances of being the star next season. Tyler’s love life has been since Hannah cut him off mid-proposal speech on The Bachelor to let him know she chose Jed over him....

We didn’t get any updates to Apple TV at WWDC this week like some were hoping for, but yesterday Comcast–one of the cable companies that has been rumored to be in discussions with Apple over a new and improved Apple TV service– unveiled its next-generation cable box arriving this fall. On top of a brand new UI and platform dubbed “X2”, the company also gave us a look at its revamped iOS apps & a new controller with voice control features that will let you search by actor, show type, series, etc....

Officially, AirPower was abandoned by Apple in March of last year, but that hasn’t stopped speculation about whether the company might be quietly working away behind the scenes in an attempt to resolve the issues. However, it’s now being suggested that Apple’s Solo Loop band might be confirmation that the company really has given up on AirPower for good. The reason: a closed-loop band wouldn’t be compatible with a lay-flat charger …...

We’ve seen a whole bunch of rumors of late suggesting that while Apple really wants to embed a fingerprint reader into the display of the iPhone 8, it is struggling to do so. The notion that Apple wants to use an embedded fingerprint reader seems abundantly clear. As I’ve mentioned before, we’ve had multiple reports from credible sources like Bloomberg, the WSJ and the New York Times. The claimed schematics and sketches have also all illustrated a design without any space for a Touch ID sensor at the bottom of the screen, and the volume of Apple patents makes it clear the company has been working hard on figuring out how to do it....

If you don’t already know, Apple’s new over the ear AirPods Max are customizable. Similar to MagSafe accessories that snap on and off, AirPods Max have built-in magnets that let users swap out the ear cushions. Ear cushions aren’t sold separately yet, but Apple has listed them on the Apple Store as coming soon. Engineer Rachit Sharma has built a really neat tool for playing around with different combinations of AirPods Max and ear cushions....

Most of the claimed parts leaks to date have been for the iPhone 8, but there are a few photos purporting to be of iPhone 7s components. These include shots of the A11 chip destined for this year’s top-end iPhone, also reported to be used in the 7s. A logic board photo sent to us by a source tallies with one posted earlier … Benjamin Geskin tweeted a logic board photo which is an exact match for separate photos we’ve received, and is also consistent with past models....

Apple CarPlay is on display this week at the International Auto Show in Detroit, and Toyota isn’t the only company making news. 2019 model trucks, hybrids, and hatchbacks with CarPlay have all been announced. Toyota announced that it will begin offering CarPlay through its 2019 Avalon sedan after resisting Apple’s in-car system for years, and Honda shared last week that its Insight Prototype hybrid will feature CarPlay and be on display at the auto show....
