Just a few days following the debut of Chrome 56 on the desktop, Google has started pushing the same new version to iOS users. While not a major update, this new version does bring along a couple of useful features, including a handy QR code scanner. Chrome isn’t exactly the first app I’d expect to find a built-in QR scanner in, but it seems pretty useful nonetheless. By accessing the 3D Touch menu for Chrome on compatible iPhones, users can quickly access a QR reader which will then open up scanned links via Google’s browser....

There have been multiple attempts to create a Nintendo 3DS emulator for Android. However, the emulators suffered from performance issues and other bugs. Previously, an unofficial port for Citra was made available on Android. And now, thanks to a team of dedicated developers, the official Citra 3DS Emulator for Android is now available. In Citra’s official blog post, they do specify that the application is still in beta. “So, while we have tried to squash the bugs we’ve come across, you may still run into the occasional glitch....

Coach has released a new khaki colored variant for one of its Apple Watch bands. Meanwhile, discounts up to 50% off previously released Apple Watch straps from the fashion designer are still live. As discovered by Haute Écriture, Coach has launched one more new Apple Watch band this summer. The latest is the Apple Watch Strap with Charms in khaki. Priced at $150, this band is available for the 38mm Apple Watch and looks to be a darker brown than the Saddle variant....

ChangeWave has announced some of the findings from its latest corporate IT purchasing survey, findings which show the downturn in the US economy is “far from over”, and point to an even greater pullback occurring in corporate spending. “At the same time, the Apple iPhone is beginning to gain traction in the corporate marketplace even as RIM maintains a big market share lead,” observed ChangeWave Research director, Paul Carton. While RIM dominates the corporate spending sector with 79 per cent of corporate buyers planning a smartphone purchase electing a BlackBerry, Apple continues to gain ground, with 17% of corporate buyers planning a smartphone purchase electing an iPhone, the researchers said....

Charlize Theron has played all kinds of characters. She’s played a real-life serial killer, a post-apocalyptic warrior, a Presidential hopeful, a double agent in the Cold War, an evil queen – clearly, she has some kind of range. She’s starred in a couple of movies that the critics weren’t so kind to, like Seth MacFarlane’s Western parody A Million Ways to Die in the West, which is quite unjust. The movie may not be amazing, but is arguably much funnier than some critics make out....

Bandai Namco action RPG Code Vein has just released its first DLC, Hellfire Knight, which gives players the opportunity to bring the Revenants back together to face an all new boss, the titular Hellfire Knight. Code Vein was released back in September of 2019, so the timing of this DLC drop is the perfect opportunity to get players fired up about this dystopian game once again. Code Vein has been dubbed “the anime Dark Souls” due to the style of game play and challenging boss battles....

If you’re using an older iPhone or iPad and wondering why the Chess.com app isn’t working, it’s nothing to do with iOS 11: it’s because the total game counter has hit the magic number of 2,147,483,647 … This is the maximum value for a 32-bit integer, so 32-bit devices can’t cope with the fact that the app now needs to display a higher number of games. The developer says that it plans to have a fix out within 48 hours, and that players can use the web version in the meantime to continue their games....

Three different civil liberties groups are backing Apple in its refusal to create a weakened version of iOS to allow the FBI access to two iPhones used by the Pensacola shooter. They support Apple’s position that compromising iPhone encryption would be a far greater risk to national security than not gaining access to the phones… Background History repeated itself when the FBI asked Apple to unlock two iPhones belonging to the suspected shooter at the Pensacola Naval Air Station – the same demand it made in the San Bernardino case....

Cobra Kai is just as heavy on the drama as it is on the punches and kicks, and it does so with all the fun and charm of the 1980s flick The Karate Kid, which the show is based on. A lot of that drama centers around Daniel LaRusso’s young daughter Samantha, and her tempestuous relationship with Miguel Diaz, the first of Johnny Lawrence’s Cobra Kai students. Miguel was a great kid led astray by Lawrence’s “strike first” training policy, and it seeped into his normal life outside the dojo....

Columbo “Murder In Malibu” sees a killer concoct a twisty scheme to get away with murder - but Columbo catches him out in a bizarre way. Columbo (Peter Falk, The Princess Bride) is one of TV’s greatest detective, with the series debuting in 1971. A young Steven Spielberg directed the very first episode, with the show’s unusual formula detailing how and why the killer murdered their victim, with Columbo then investigating the crime and piecing together the clues....

Why hasn’t there been a Chrono Trigger remake? With the advent of the newly-designed Final Fantasy VII, this isn’t an unreasonable question. While Final Fantasy games have traditionally been more popular, Chrono Trigger was the 20th most-popular game for the Super Nintendo (and the 9th most-popular that wasn’t shipped with the system at some point). Simply put, it has earned its place in history, and it was released by Squaresoft and Enix pre-merger more than a quarter-century ago....

French site NWE has posted photos from Japan of what it claims is the Touch ID sensor for the iPhone 6. The photos don’t give anything away, with the only visible differences being in the location of screw holes – which is to be expected given the significant redesign of the new model iPhone. There have been rumors that Apple has made changes to the Touch ID sensor to improve durability, but there’s nothing here to shed any light either way....

Netflix releases a trailer for the upcoming series Chambers. Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn star in the horror thriller, with Stephen Gaghan and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon serving as co-executive producers. For Chambers, Sivan Alyra Rose stars as Sasha Yazzie, an Arizona woman who survives a heart attack. She receives a heart transplant, and tries to figure out the mystery surrounding her donor’s death. As for the horror premise, Rose’s character seemingly becomes spiritually connected with her deceased donor, and shows personal characteristics that don’t quite make sense....

In a few words, this tool developed by Google itself is perfectly compatible with Chrome browsers and computers that run on Chrome OS. As long as the platform comes with the browser installed, the Remote Desktop tool will work. Although all operating systems have been deemed compatible, some features are only enabled for newer versions. A claimed schematic of the 4.7-inch model of the iPhone 6 appears to support suggestions that the camera lens will protrude, though only by 0.77mm. Posted by Apple Club in Taiwan, it appears to show a 7mm thick casing with the thickest part of the camera extending 0.77mm beyond this. Suggestions that the quest for thinness might result in an iPod Touch-style protruding camera lens on the iPhone 6 date back to March, and have been supported by claimed backplate photos as recently as this month....

After pleading guilty last fall to hacking over 200 iCloud, Yahoo, and Facebook accounts, former high school teacher, Christopher Brannan, has been sentenced to 34 months in prison. As we previously reported, Brannan is the fifth individual to be charged with a role in the 2014 Celebgate hacking. As spotted by AppleInsider, Brannan’s almost 3-year prison sentence comes from charges of identify theft as well as unauthorized access to protected computers....

A surprising number of episodes of the classic sitcom Cheers happen entirely inside the bar, only moving scenes to different parts of said bar.
