Clayne Crawford will make his return to television, signing on to star in an upcoming installment of Hulu’s horror-anthology series Into the Dark. Crawford previously starred as Martin Riggs in Fox’s small-screen adaptation of the Lethal Weapon franchise. Despite initial skepticism, the series achieved solid ratings and managed to garner a passionate fanbase. Following reports of behind-the-scenes turmoil, however, Crawford was fired from the show and the character of Riggs was killed off at the end of season 2....

The popular and brutally honest weather app Carrot Weather has today been updated to version 4.7.2 with a handful of new features. The update brings improvements for hurricane tracking, notification changes, and much more. As we enter the heart of hurricane season, headlining today’s Carrot Weather update is support for hurricane notifications. This means the app will now send you updates on the progression of a hurricane, including its current category....

In a ‘ground-breaking’ deal, not only does Verizon renew its agreement with Viacom to show their TV content (including Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon) nationally, these channels will also be offered in FiOS’s mobile app for iOS. Early next year, you will be able to watch all of these channels from your iOS device from anywhere — you aren’t restricted to being on the same network as your cable box....

There’s one more app joining Apple’s small list of road-ready apps for the car today as MLB At Bat for iPhone has been updated with CarPlay support. MLB At Bat version 8.2 adds its own CarPlay interface for iPhone users with supported in-dash receivers in the car. The app’s game audio streaming is expected to be the focus of the CarPlay version, although the menu has been empty for me in testing as no games are currently being played until this evening....

Polish video game company CD Projekt Red is reaping the rewards of the recent The Witcher renaissance, becoming the second most valuable game company in Europe. The company is perhaps best known for its series of The Witcher video games, with their most recent release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, out since May 2015. England based designer Hector Simpson has created a beautiful set of new wallpapers for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS inspired by the classic blue wave designs that were a staple in early versions of Mac OS X. The set is called “Aquex” – clearly an homage to aqua. Simpson has designed a wide array of options that use color schemes from more recent versions of macOS as well. Earlier this month, we reported that China Telecom earned the necessary approvals to launch the iPhone 4S on China’s third-largest carrier. Today, the China Telecom subsidiary Beijing Telecom issued a press release (via China Daily) and said the Beijing-based company will launch the iPhone 4S as early as the end of February or beginning of March. A CDMA version of the iPhone 4S will launch on the network. The press release gave no word on pricing for the device, but it will likely fall in line with the other networks....

John Sundell has secured yet another notable guest for his informative “Swift by Sundell” podcast. This time around, Chris Lattner has joined the show. Lattner created Apple’s Swift programming language before briefly joining Tesla and eventually ending up at Google. Lattner has had a storied career in the tech industry. He joined Apple in 2005 and worked on a variety of the company’s developer-oriented tools and languages. He rose to become Apple’s head of developer tools and led the development of Xcode for a long time, and created its Swift programming language....

Google Chrome, is a widely used and popular web browsing app both for the smartphones as well as the desktops. There are a lot of updates that previously was brought in by Google for its browser to enhance the features and functionality of the Chrome browser. And keeping up with it Google has pushed another update for the Chrome 77 that brings Tab Groupings, Theming Options and Previews on board. Surprisingly, some of the features of this update has already been there on other browsers for some time....

Indian Motorcycle’s new 2021 Chieftain Elite isn’t the first motorbike with CarPlay, but Apple’s infotainment feature is certainly less common on bikes than four-wheeled modes of transportation. A spinoff from the popular Chicago Fire TV show, Chicago P.D. focuses on a police intelligence unit run by Detective Sergeant Henry “Hank” Voight. Introduced as a dirty cop in Chicago Fire, he uses the same morally questionable methods to catch criminals and other more corrupt cops which the other members of his unit practice as well. For this reason, the Chicago P.D. series has been heavily criticized for its inaccuracies about police work in general....

Unlike other first-party apps, Google’s browser has historically followed a strict, publicized six-week release cycle. After going without updates for the past four months, a new version of Chrome for iPhone and iPad is rolling out now. In February, Google started releasing new app updates on iOS again and the cadence resumed in earnest last month. Chrome, however, has been a bit behind and skipped version 88 (January) and 89 (March) entirely....

Apple started the music playlist idea when it debuted the “Rip, Mix, Burn” campaign 20 years ago. Popular third-party podcast player Castro has been updated today with a handful of notable enhancements. Primarily, today’s update focuses on enhancing the sideloading functionality that was originally introduced back in August. With today’s update, Sideloads now support an iOS Share Sheet action extension. This means that you can send any audio file from the web, directly to Castro, just as you would share a link through Messages using Share Sheet....
