We shot the videos above and below tonight during the official CES Unveiled press event and were quite impressed with the MiniDrone’s agility. Unlike its bigger brother, Parrot’s new drone sports removable wheels on either side allowing it to run smoothly along the floor, wall, or ceiling before taking off again into mid-air....

China’s largest display manufacturer, BOE, is reported to be making a serious bid to win OLED orders for future iPhones. It’s said to have offered to construct not just one but two large-scale OLED production lines which would be used exclusively for Apple orders. Apple is currently dependent on Samsung for all its OLED panels for the iPhone X, a position the company almost certainly wants to change … Korea’s ETnews reports that BOE made the multi-billion dollar offer to Apple during a recent visit....

We’ve seen a slew of retailers announce their Black Friday deals over at 9to5Toys today, and it seems like one of the hottest items this year will be the Series 1 Apple Watch at under $200. With pricing this low, Apple is sure to gain even more market share from Fitbit and others. In addition to releasing the first developer preview of Android N earlier today, Google this evening has rolled out updates to a pair of its iOS apps. Both Google Drive and Chrome for iOS have been updated with a few new features. First, Google Drive has been updated with improved support for ‘trashing’ documents, as well as support for folder colors. With today’s update, users can now view, restore, and delete items in their trash from the iOS app....

Seemingly out of nowhere, a cinematic version of the original Broadway musical Cats is clawing its way into theaters this Christmas. China Mobile, the world’s largest Telecom with close to 700M subscribers, reported mixed earnings today on slow growth of its smartphone business relative to its competitors which both carry the iPhone. Chairman Xi Guohua noted this and said that talks with Apple on carrying the iPhone were progressing. “Both sides sounded keen (during recent talks),” Xi told a news conference after announcing the company’s first-half results. “Good progress was made in preparing for the commercialization of TD-LTE,” Xi said, referring to 4G “long-term evolution” network technology that may support newer iPhone models....

The 2021 edition of IFI’s Trends and Insights study found that US-based companies accounted for 150,801 of the 327,329 patents issued during the year. In a distant second place was Japan with 47,105, followed by South Korea (21,264), China (20,679), and Germany (14,663), to round out the top five. While the rest of the top five countries saw their patent approvals decline between 2020 and 2021, China’s actually surged, going from 18,792 to the aforementioned 20,679....

One Chinese man seemingly couldn’t wait for an official Apple wearable, and tried to smuggle an amazing 94 iPhones from Hong Kong – where they are cheaper – into mainland China by wearing them inside his clothes. Huffington Post reports that the man was pulled aside by customs officials as a result of his “weird walking posture, joint stiffness, muscle tension.” We don’t know the mix of models involved, but the total value of the iPhones would likely exceed $50,000, making his saran-wrapped iPhone suit one of the most expensive suits in the world....

Last year, Bumblebee became one of the highest-rated blockbuster movies, and much of that is owed to screenwriter Christina Hodson, who shepherded the Transformers prequel story alongside director Travis Knight that united the franchise’s most famous robot with a teenage girl, Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld. Set in 1987 - 30 years prior to the events of Michael Bay’s first Transformers movie - Bumblebee sees the eponymous Autobot, Bumblebee, leave Cybertron and land on Earth....
