Emergency crews were called out to Apple’s data center in North Carolina this afternoon after multiple injuries were reported. The injuries reportedly followed a chlorine leak of some sort at the property although the cause of the incident is currently unknown. A total of 5 people were sent to a nearby medical center following the incident. Apple’s Lisa Jackson offered a tour of the facility where the injuries occurred today to NBC last year....

Chris Pratt might be a big-time movie star, one capable of bringing cloned dinosaur franchises and third-tier comic book heroes to the top of the box-office heap, but he was once just a regular guy like everyone else. Google’s Chrome browser for iPhones and iPads is getting a whole lot faster and more stable today with its latest update. That’s because Chrome is now using Apple’s WKWebView rendering engine on iOS. Google says this update will reduce Chrome’s crash rate by 70% so the browsing experience will see fewer interruptions for various reasons. In the speed department, Google says the new version of Chrome is ‘dramatically faster’ as it should be on par with Safari web browsing now....

LAWeekly reports that a Los Angeles man has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple over the iPhone 4’s glass casing. He claims that his iPhone 4’s glass broke when his daughter dropped the device, three feet above the ground, while sending a text message. He says the iPhone 3GS he owns never had a glass breaking issue when dropped from similar heights. The man even claims that Apple “knows about the design flaw and refuses to warn consumers that “normal” use leads essentially to a broken phone....

Apple will be removing thousands of games from the Chinese App Store as it finally begins complying with a law that came into force back in 2016. It’s believed at least a third of all games in the store could be removed. The law requires developers to obtain a license in order to publish an app in China. Although Apple has asked for the license number when apps are submitted for review, it has been turning a blind eye to loopholes used by major publishers and indies alike …...

Christopher Nolan’s mysterious event film casts BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. slated the director’s next project for July 2020, but the general public has been kept in the dark about it ever since. Plot details are virtually nonexistent, with rumors about it potentially being a romantic thriller that mixes North by Northwest with Inception seemingly debunked. CBS has updated it’s ‘CBS Sports’ iOS app today with full support for tablet users, allowing iPad users on iOS 6.0 and up to access all of the on-demand and live content that the app previously only offered to iPhone users. The updated app doesn’t just bring a native iPad design with support for the larger screen as pictured above, but it will also now allow users to access live video....

Announced at CES this week in Las Vegas, Chinese electronic and appliance manufacturer Haier is notably the first in its industry to pick up Apple’s MFi certification for one of its products. Haier’s Tianzun air conditioner (press release) is the first smart appliance to pick up Apple’s Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad seal which notes Apple’s standards for ease-of-use, quality, and functionality were met. Haier, which manufactures other appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators, plans to implement the same connected technology found in its MFi air conditioner in other products as well potentially leading a move toward more user-friendly smart home appliances…...

As announced in October, Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive and colleague Marc Newson were tasked with designing the Christmas tree at Claridges hotel in London. The attraction has now been unveiled and it turns out Ive and Newson have gone beyond one single tree and instead designed an entire room like a snow-covered forest — the hotel is calling it a ‘festive installation’. Google has updated its Chrome web browser for iPad on iOS 9 to support each of the new operating system’s new multitasking features on the latest models. Chrome (version 46.0.2490.73 to be specific) now supports Split View for running the browser next to other updated apps, Slide Over for referencing it over any app, and Picture in Picture for minimizing videos playing within Chrome to view from other apps including Split View mode....
