We recently saw the mural Apple commissioned for one of its five new Apple Stores in China, and today the mural is down revealing the glass cylinder entrance of its Chongqing store, an apparent clone of its Shanghai store design. The store opens at 10am tomorrow. The photos were posted on Taisy and appear to have originated from MacX. The interior of the store is very reminiscent of the spiral staircase in the iconic glass cube store on Fifth Avenue in New York (photo below) …...

Apple and China Mobile appear to be taking their newly established partnership and marketing it proudly as the Chinese service provider has devoted a majority of one of its retail locations to the iPhone and iPad line. The Israeli forensics firm Cellebrite has announced a $33 million acquisition that it says will help it expand its forensics capabilities beyond smartphones. The company has acquired BlackBag Technologies, which is a separate forensics firm with a focus on computer forensics. In a press release announcing the acquisition, Cellebrite co-CEO Yossi Carmil said that the deal will allow Cellebrite to accelerate and expand the forensics work it does with law enforcement agencies with the goal of building “safer communities....
The discontinuation of the iPod Classic back in 2014 gave prices of used models a boost in the following holiday season, some models selling for up to four times the original price. A Guardian report says that collectors are now paying even more for some models, with special editions selling for as much as $90,000. Terapeak, a company which tracks pricing of collectibles on eBay, […] found that classic iPods in their original packaging were priced at collectibles levels – one U2 special edition, Terapeak noted, sold in November for $90,000....
After a strong opening weekend, China saved Hobbs and Shaw at the box office. Secure messaging company Signal has successfully used an iPhone SE to hack Cellebrite‘s phone-cracking software. The company says that anyone could place a file on their iPhone that effectively renders useless any data extraction performed on the phone, and that it will be doing this for Signal users. Signal says that the file could also compromise all past and future reports generated from the Cellebrite Windows app … Signal clearly managed to get its hands on the software by some means it doesn’t wish to disclose, as it opens with a tongue-in-cheek description of how that happened....
